Nagagami LakeNagagami Lake measures 8 miles in length and 2 to 6 miles in width. The lake has three distinct sections - the eastern basin (a shallow [20 to 40 ft.], smooth-bottom area), the western basin (a deeper [90 ft.], irregularly contoured sections with islands, rocky outcroppings and rugged shorelines), and a narrow, deep [70 ft.] northerly arm. Nagagami Lake's water is clear, though tannin-stained. There are few boating hazards in the main lake and just a few, well marked rocks in the north arm / island sections. Accessible from Nagagami Lake are three small, back lakes - Little Pody, Hiawatha and Moose Lakes. Three large rivers are part of the Nagagami Lake system - the Foch River and the Obakimaga ("Buck") River which pour into the lake and the Nagagami River which runs out of the lake. Each, in its time, offers unique angling opportunities. |
| Several areas of Nagagami Lake support abundant weedgrowth, perfect for attracting and holding sportfish throughout the season. The Meadows, Pike Alley, the Pody Creek area and (in the eastern basin) a narrow weedline located far offshore where the bottom drops from 8 to 12 feet, are popular fishing locations. | |
| A number of river / creek mouths, weedbeds, rocky shoals, tapering points, islands and back bays - especially in the western basin - provide key structural elements for attracting fish and diverse fishing opportunities for walleyes, northern pike, whitefish and yellow perch. Nagagami Lake, site of Nagagami Lodge (HK), is located approximately 30 air miles northwest of Hornepayne, ON, and accessible only by air. Situated amidst an unspoiled tract of Northern Ontario wilderness, Nagagami offers exceptional opportunities for outdoor recreational pursuits, including fishing, wildlife viewing, outdoor photography, boating & canoeing, hiking, and swimming. |
